The Supreme Council of Universities has announced new admission rules for Egyptian universities for the academic year 2021-2022. These rules apply to students with general high school diplomas, technical certificates, or equivalent foreign and Arab certificates.
Furthermore, the Supreme Council of Universities has approved new admission rules for students with American high school diplomas, and Dr. Tarek Shawki, the Minister of Education and Technical Education, has agreed to consider the SAT exam scores taken by Egyptian students abroad as part of the American Diploma exams. This decision reaffirms Council Decision No. 1 issued during its session on 13th July 2010.
The Council's decision includes the following points:
1. SAT exam scores obtained by students in their American equivalent high school diplomas will be considered for admission to Egyptian universities. These scores should be the highest ones reported on the electronic coordination system and submitted by the students using the designated code 7437. This applies regardless of any different scores found on the physical certificates. Some scores may be invalidated by Collegeboard after the results are announced due to cases of mass cheating, forgery, or other violations.
2. The new SAT score tables will be the basis for calculating the total score for students with American high school diplomas, starting from the academic year 2018/2017. The old SAT scores will be converted into their equivalent scores on the new SAT tables, as provided by the American Collegeboard. This conversion is the responsibility of the American Collegeboard, subject to meeting the required conditions for Egyptian universities and institutes (governmental and private) admission for students with an American high school diploma (GBA SAT+).
3. In this case, the new SAT scores will serve as the basis, and the equivalent scores for the old SAT will be used. For example, if a student scored 1000 in the new SAT and its equivalent in the old SAT is 1440, the conversion will be such that a score of 1440 in the old SAT is considered as 1000 in the new SAT. The calculation involves dividing 1050 by 1050, then multiplying the result by 60% to determine the total score.
4. Egyptian universities (governmental and private) will accept students with American high school diplomas, whether they have studied for three American grade levels (G10, G11, G12), two grade levels (G11, G12), or just one grade level (G12). It is essential to ensure that the student meets all the other required conditions when applying to Egyptian universities, including academic sequence, qualified subjects, school accreditation by recognized international accrediting bodies in Egypt, and achieving the minimum required score in SAT exams. This also applies to students with Canadian high school diplomas.
